When selecting and installing a vacuum gauge, the following considerations should be noted:

1. Due to the potential pressure gradient in the vacuum chamber, it is important to choose the installation location appropriately. 2. The surface and sealing materials exhibit outgassing phenomena. Therefore, the pressure indicated by the vacuum gauge may be higher than the pressure in the vacuum chamber. The connecting flange should be as short as possible, and the number of seals should be minimized.

2. The surface and sealing materials exhibit outgassing phenomena. Therefore, the pressure indicated by the vacuum gauge is higher than the pressure in the vacuum chamber. The connecting flange should be as short as possible, and the number of seals should be minimized.

3. The ionization vacuum gauge can have a pumping effect, thus the indicated pressure is lower than the actual pressure in the vacuum chamber.

4. The cold cathode vacuum gauge has an inherent sputtering effect, which is particularly noticeable when operating with heavy gases (such as argon) in the medium vacuum range. This can lead to inconsistent and inaccurate readings.

5. When hydrocarbons are present, the ionization vacuum gauge is contaminated by the decomposition products of organic molecules. Similar to the sputtering effect, the readings can be distorted or inconsistent.

6. The switching point of the ionization vacuum gauge must be chosen to avoid contamination caused by the aforementioned phenomena.

7. Strong magnetic and electric fields can affect the function of the vacuum gauge. This is especially true for ionization vacuum gauges.

8. To achieve ultra-high vacuum, the vacuum equipment, including the vacuum gauge, must be baked. The maximum baking temperature and conditions specified in the technical data must be adhered to.

9. If contaminated, the cold cathode vacuum gauge can be easily disassembled and cleaned. For those using other measurement principles, the sensor can usually be replaced.

10. It should be noted that vacuum gauges will experience a certain degree of wear and contamination, so they need to be replaced periodically. Due to the wide range of operating conditions, it is not possible to provide a universal recommendation for replacement intervals.
